RED LADY PAPAYA — Early, vigorous, productive, and tolerant to papaya ring spot virus. Start harvesting in 8 months at about 60 – 80cm height and have over 30 fruits per plant in each fruit-setting season.

Fruits are short-oblong on female plants and rather long-shaped on bisexual plants, weighing about 1.5 – 2kg. Flesh is thick, red, with 13% sugar content, and aromatic. Good shipper.

December 12, 2015 — Farmers and Fisherfolks from the Municipality of Tagkawayan went on a study tour at Ato Belen’s Farm. They were particularly interested in organic agriculture as a means to mitigate the effects of climate change. The activity was organized by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Tagkawayan, Quezon.

VISITORS FROM GUINAYANGAN, QUEZON

December 07, 2015 — Stakeholders of International Institute for Rural Reconstruction’s (IIRR) Climate Smart Agriculture Program from the Municipality of Guinayangan, Province of Quezon were given a brief on the primary and secondary roles of agroforestry in surviving and mitigating the effects of climate change. This is part of IIRR’s roving workshop which covers Quezon, Laguna, Nueva Ecija and the Cordilleras.
